Don’t summarise the assignment outline
Do write to your audience
DONT say “the purpose of this paper is”
DO make the direction of your paper clear
Find out the teacher’s expectations
Persuasive essay - make sure I know what the issue is
Research proposal or paper - make sure I know the importance of your topic and the problem you are addressing
DO be concise
Think carefully about your title
Do build excitement / importance of your paper
