APA style and Google Docs don't always play nicely with each other, but if you know which details to keep an eye on, you can format your document quickly and easily. Here, we go through setting up a document according to basic APA-style specifications.
Some of you will notice that I said Times New Roman is the only font you can use. APA's style manual actually states that Times New Roman is preferred, but writers may use a serif font if they prefer. If you are writing a paper for an instructor, check to see which font your instructor requires, if any. When in doubt, go with Times New Roman.
I also said that everything in an APA-style paper is double spaced; if you are writing a research paper using tables, APA does allow tables to be single-spaced.
