Reflective Essay (Examples, Introduction, Topics)

The SAT Essay doesn’t require your original ideas or educated opinions.

It just asks you to carefully read a passage and identify the author’s persuasion techniques. No sweat.

The actual essay is an optional part of the test. But we definitely recommend you take it, for getting a high score on the SAT essay will greatly boost your chance of getting into college.

When you read the passage, identify these three things:

1. The author’s argument, it’s usually clear from the thesis statement

2. The author’s evidence and reasoning; basically the sources they used

3. The author’s rhetorical techniques; their language, word choice, and the details they draw your attention to.
