Journey to Chevening is a weekly series where I share tips on maneuvering the chevening application and interview process. I was selected as part of the 2019-2020 Cohort to pursue an LLM at The London School of Economics and Political Science. In this third episode I will be sharing be sharing the highly demanded Essay Content Tips.
Chevening Essays : Content
1. Write in paragraphs, using an introduction , body and conclusion!
2 Give three examples for each question.
3. In the leadership and influence section, give example of both leadership and influence!
4. For leadership/influence and networking essays use the STAR approach.
5. For the career plans use the SMART approach.
6. Keep it Simple using as much plain language as possible.
7.Check our the DFID country profile to find out what the UK government is doing in your country.
8. Be very ambitious in your long term goals.
9. Link your career plan to your chosen Masters course.
10. Relax and all the best!
Additional Tips for section 4 (long term career goals)
Break it down.
Short term goals
- joining the Chevening Alumni Network in your country.
-promoting the Chevening scholarship on social media.
-joining networks and organisations in your country.
Medium term goals
-starting a social organisation in your field of study
Long term goals
- be very ambitious e.g. run for president, sec General of UN oganisation etc.
